Eastern Idaho State Fair

We went to the Fair this morning. Luckily Parker's allergy attack didn't hinder our weekend plans. We decided not to got the parade this year because I knew Paige would not like the loud noises and the parade seems to get more boring each year. I knew Parker would not know the difference so we headed over to the fair earlier before all the parade goers got there. We had ourselves some lunch, I had trout and Matt had a big mammoth burger, Parker had a corn dog. Then we went to the carnival rides. This is the first year Parker was able to ride the rides. The tickets were $1 a piece and all of the rides were 3 or more tickets to ride!!! What a rip off!! So he only went on 3 rides, but he had a great time and enjoyed it. Next year I think we will end up buying a wrist band or an all day pass, it is more cost efficient in the long run. After about 6 rides it pays for itself. It was extremely hot today so we didn't stay as long as usual. The fair is exactly the same every year, but for some reason we always go each year. I guess something to do once a year. We walked around and saw the animals and walked thru the commercial buildings. There are too many people to manuver a stroller with 2 kids in it around. By this time both our kids were tired and cranky. We had had enough. We got a rice bowl and 2 chocolate dipped cheesecakes to go and headed home. Oh by the way the railroad put up a fence and so we now have to walk all the way around to get to the entrance. We used to be able to cross over the tracks and be there in a hurry. So now it takes us 15 minutes or so to walk over there. How annoying, after 25 years or more of being able to have the convenience to cross and now having to walk a long detour to get there. Oh well!!! So we made it home and are now hanging out with family that came from out of town to visit and go to the fair. We are having a memorable weekend so far!!!

Boxtox gone wrong or Allergy???

On Thursday night Parker got a fat lip on half of his bottom lip. I thought that maybe he accidentally big it or maybe a bug bite. So we gave him some tylenol and he went to sleep. Well at about 3:00 in the morning he woke up and his entire bottome lip was swollen. I was gettting kind of worried because it was looking worse and not better. So I gave him som Benadryl hoping that would help the inflamation. It was really hard for him to leave it alone because it felt funny to him and was really bothering him. How do you explain to a 2 year old that his lip is swollen and that it will get better and not to bug it. He finally went back to sleep and then when I woke up about 7:00 and looked at him I was really scared it had gotten worse and was spread to both his lips. And his right cheek was swollen as well. We decided we had better take him to the Doctor. We went to put his shoes on and his right foot was swollen as well. That got us even more concerned so we hurried to Immediate Care. We got there as soon as they opened and the doctor saw him and was pretty sure it was an allergic reation to some walnuts in the brownies I had made the night before. But the swollen foot was throwing him off so he got another doctors opinion and then they got one more doctors opinion. Finally they gave him a prescription for a steroid that would help the swelling and then they said that we should bring him back that evening to make sure it was indeed and allergy and not something more serious. So we gave him the medicine and within a few hours it started looking better and by the end of the day you could hardly tell. Today he is back to normal and doing fine. (The swollen foot and lips didn't really slow him down, but I felt so bad for the little guy) We took pictures along the way to show how it grew. So now more walnuts for Parker!!!

Gone fishing

So I was thinking of what I could write about today and looking thru pictures that I have on my computer and I came across these pictures. They were taken last year when we went camping with come friends. I just love the picture of the boys with their back to the camera, it is just so darn cute. I have been told that I need to enter this picture in the fair in the story telling category, but I didn't make that happen so I am sharing it with all of you.
We haven't had a very eventful weekend, but I am recovering all the same, house work, laundry, dishes. They seem to pile up quite a bit more over the weekend and then on Monday I am playing catch-up. Paige was having a rough morning and was very fussy, I was to the point I didn't know what to do for her. She was crying when I held her, when I put her down, in her swing, she didn't want to eat so I put her in the crib and shut the door. A few minutes later(I thought she would start crying in the crib too) I went in to check on her and she was off in dreamland. The poor girl was tired and just wanted to be put down in her bed. Silly mom why didn't I think if that earlier. So I am scrambling to get a few things done before she wakes up. I just have to mention one more thing... the fair will be here this weekend and I am excited to have family up for the occasion and to enjoy the fair food... it doesn't taste the same any other time of year. I think we will only be going one time. Two kids will make it an adventure for sure. Hopefully I can get some picture to share. Until then...Happy Monday!!

Great Grandma Goodwin

Matt's Great Grandma Goodwin died this week, on Monday. She was 93!!! I can't believe it. She had been in a nursing home for about 7 years and finally was able to go and be with her sweetheart who died in 1981!!! I can't believe she had been a widow for so long. Anyways we went to her funeral yesterday and it was really nice. She had 3 children, 17 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 36 great-great grandchildren. Isn't that amazing that this one family has over 100 people in their posterity. I don't know if I have ever known someone that had 5 generations still living so I just think this is neat. I didn't really know her very well since she has been in a nursing home most of the time Matt and I have been together, but she was a wonderful lady from what I hear from all of her family. I don't think I want to live to be that old....but I don't have control over that.

Matt and Parker went golfing this morning with grandpa and my sister and her fiance. We will all be getting together after they are finished for a little lunch. We have had a lot of fun together this summer. It is nice to have family close to be able to do those things with each other.

Booster Seat

Our ward had a Super Saturday this past weekend and one of the projects we did were booster seats made from buckets. They were so easy. Partly because we only had the put them together. They were already cut out and ready to go so it didn't take much time. Parker loves his. We had an old one from when I was a kid that Parker has been using. Well my mom showed them the the enrichment leader and they decided that they would be fun to make. So I decided to make a couple for my kids and then we would have a spare for when a friend comes over. I let Parker choose the fabric he wanted, Thomas the Train, and then I tried to get him to change his mind. You can see who won that battle. Now I have to live with Thomas the Train for as long as we have the bucket seat. I did get to pick out Paige's and chose a pink animal print. They both turned out really cute. You take an empty bucket, cut out the front part (I don't know the exact measurments, but I can get them if anyone is interested). Line the inside with empty pop cans-not crushed, and newspaper. Then you take a piece of wood cut out into a circle cover it with batting, then fabric, and then clear vinyl and staple. Insert the round disc into the bucket and put a few nails in to secure it. They were like I said fairly easy and inexpensive. Parker carries his around to where he wants it and then sits.
Well we are going to Ross Park again today with a friend and I have to get some things done around the house before we go.!!

Our Cowboy

Okay so I haven't quite figured out how to put a picture on and then write more words decribing the picture and write more about a different picture. So that is why I have 4 differend posts today. I had forgotten about this cute picture of Parker and when I was loading all the picture to the computer I saw it and I just had to share it. About a month ago Parker really wanted a pair of boots (okay he had a pair of snow boots and he insisted on wearing them, in the middle of summer, so Mom really wanted to get him a pair of cowboy boots) well we found the perfect pair and he loved trying them on in the store. When we got home he would not touch them. I was really frustrated because we had just spent money on them and if he wasn't going to wear them I wanted to take them back. Well I decided to just put them in his closet for a little while and see if he decided to wear them on his own time if he would like them. He is a stubborn little boy and that is exactly what happened. One day he saw them and wanted to wear them along with his cowboy hat and his stick horse. (Did I mention I hid the winter snow boots from him!!) So here he is one day, pantless, but still so cute!! He wiped himself out and fell asleep with his cowboy gear in hand.

Paige

My how the time has flown by. Paige was 4 months old on Tuesday. I can't believe it!!! She is getting so big and so much fun. She smiles at you and tries to talk and gets so excited when you talk back to her. I love having a little girl to dress up and take pictures of (Not that I don't like to take pictures of Parker) Paige just holds still and smiles and isn't big enough to say "No Mommy" Here she is in a cute blue summer outfit from Grandma Yancey. Also a friend pointed out to me that I had taken a picture of Parker and Paige together once a month from the time she was born. I hadn't even noticed that. So I had to take another one this month. Now I have to remember every month. That will be some fun picture to look at when the year is over with and to see how much they both have grown and changed. This picture Parker did not want to cooperate. He wasn't interested in holding Paige, so he is trying to escape the picture. Oh well, at least I tried!!

Blueberries

I recently bought a huge package of blueberries at Winco for a great deal. It was a two pound package for $5 I couldn't pass it up. So I have been going crazy with the blueberries trying to use them us so they don't go to waste and because they taste so dang good. So all this week almost every morning I have made fresh blueberry pancakes. Can I just say Yumm-o. They are so delicious!!! I can't quite get Parker to try them, but Matt and I sure love them. I know bluberries are very good for you, high in vitamins and all that good stuff, so that is how I can justify eating pancakes every monring for breakfast. Well I snapped a picture so you can all start craving your ouwn homemade, from scratch, fresh blueberry pancakes!!

Haircut

So I had had enough with my hair. I have been trying to grow it out since I became prgnant with Paige. It has taken so long to get it to the length it was, which I didn't feel was very long. But for those of you that really know me, you knew this would happen. I think it is the curse of the hair stylist. We are always growing our hair out. The second we cut it we are growing it back out, at least for the month anyway. Well I felt like I was really getting somewhere and would be able to get it longer, but I had a moment of weakness. Do I regret it...NOT AT ALL. I love it short for many reasons, it is so fast to do in the mornings, especially Sunday morning it will be great. It doesn't seem like it sheds as much, less shampoo to wash, less time to style it, and it is not in my face all the time. So I guess I don't have as much self control as I thought. But for now this is working for me. When I got home from getting it done, Paige was really looking me over to make sure I really was her mommy. Matt loved it (He would love any style I came home with. He learned right from the start to nod his head and say it looks great no matter what, what a great husband) and Parker didn't even seem to notice. Here is a little snap shopt of the new cut.

I Finally Finished

Well I got the book Breaking Dawn last Tuesday in the mail. I had preordered it from Amazon.com and couldn't wait to get it. I knew I would not be one to stand in line all night to get it at the bookstore so ordering it worked best for me. As soon as I got it I started reading it and was reading it pretty quickly but for some reason my kids and husband thought that they needed fed and clean clothes and they wanted to be entertained. I don't know why that is. So I finally finished it last night after all the distractions it took me a little less than a week. I probably could have read it in a day, but that it the life of a mom. I wish I could sit and read a good book all day while eating bon bons, but any of you that are wives and mothers know that is not how it works. Anyways, back to the book. I LOVED IT!!! I thought it was the best in the series. Probably because it was action packed and tied everything together and it had a great ending. Can I just say Great Job Stephanie Meyer these are the best books I have read in a long time. Any of you out there who have not read or heard of the Twilight series, you need to check them out! You will not be disappointed.
Yesterday the kids and I went to Ross Park swimming with my sister and her fiance and his son. We had a blast. Parker did not want to leave. I lathered on the sunscreen but I got a little too much sun on my shoulders and Parker seemed to get a little on his face beneath his eyes so it looks like he got hit in the face. The weather was really nice, but the wind was blowing so it made it really chilly when you were out of the water. We are going again next week with my friend Anne and her girls so we are already looking forward to that.
I was able to see one of my high school friends Michelle over the weekend and it was fun to visit with her for a little while. Her younger brother just got married and they were having an open house here so all of her family was there. It was pretty busy at her parents house. We will have to get together another time with just us and no kids then we can really enjoy our visit. Thanks Michelle for calling me I had fun seeing you and your family!!
We finally got a primary chorister on Sunday so I am off the hook as a temporary substitute. So now I just have to prepare my monthly sharing time and conduct once a month. So that will lighten the load. My mom got put in as the new chorister and I know she will do a great job. She was just released as the 2nd counselor in Relief Society so it will be a change going from adult women to the primary kids. We are exctied to have someone in there that will be dependable and that knows music. Thanks mom for accepting the call. Well I think that is all for now. I guess I shouldn't put off writing then my posts wouldn't be so long. Happy reading!!!

August Already

So I guess I am not that great at keeping my blog updated. It seems like my life isn't all that exciting to write about much more than a few times a month. The normal everyday things that go on I am sure everyone doesn't care to read about. I decided that I needed to write something today since it is August already. We just got home on Sunday from a trip to Island Park with Matt's family. We had a really good time. It was so much fun to get away and to just hang out for a few days. The boys all went and played golf and racquetball and we went swimming a few times. And can I say we were FULL the entire time we were there. We had so much food. I don't know what we were thinking. We each brought much more than we needed and we left with almost as much food as we came with. We could have stayed there a few weeks and had enough food. It just made us laugh!!! We went one day to West Yellowstone to a car show and then walked around town for a little while. Then the kids became exhausted and we headed back to the cabin. It was a great time to be together as a family. The picture I posted is not from Island Park it is just one of Paige that I absolutely love. She has the biggest grin and I love how it is a mouth full of gums. She is really starting to smile and react to people when they talk to her. I love having a little girl. We will be going to her 4 month checkup next week. I can't believe she is that old. They sure grow up fast. I will be busy this month and next writing our primary program that will be the end of September. What a challenge. I wrote the program last year and I didn't think it was that great but I guess other people thought so and nominated me for the chore again this year. I hope that I will have some time to just sit down one day and knock most of it out at once. Then I can work on it here and there until we get it just right. Meanwhile I am substituting as the Music Leader in Primary until we get another one called, we have an activity day on Saturday and a leadership meeting on the 20th. So I am going to be a busy girl with Church the next little while. Maybe after this month things will slow down in primary for a while and give me a break!!!!! I can't believe the summer is almost over with. The fair will be here in less than a month and I always associate that with the end of the summer and the beginning of the school year. Of course I am sure that will be a nice time once Parker starts school. He drives me crazy some days, he has way more energy than I know what to do with. I wonder if I can start him in a preschool next year!!! That would be wonderful. Well I better run. Hopefully I will have some more to share in the next few days until then...
