No Sick Days for a Mom

So I have not been feeling well the last few days, but that doesn't seem to mean much around our house. We still have to carry on with our daily routine only I am not functioning on all brain cells. I absolutely hate it when I get sick. Being a mom and a wife makes it really hard to get the rest and relaxation I am desperately craving. It is sure hard to take a nap when the kids are wide awake and need my attention. Too bad there isn't a button we moms can push to put things on hold while we recover or someone that would watch our kids 24 hrs a day until we feel better. But that is not life or reality so just like every other day I will take the day one minute at a time and try to make it thru. Using all my energy the best I can to feed my kids and keep the laundry going. (I think it is worse because I can't really take anything for it because I am nursing Paige. If anyone out there knows of something for a head cold that doens't have antihistamine in it let me know!!!) Meanwhile I just want to give a shout our to all moms out there who have the hardest job in the world and who don't get sick days, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!

So I haven't posted for a while and then it came to me that last time I posted about finishing The Host I should have posted about Paige turning 5 months old!! I can't believe that she is already 5 months old, time goes by so fast. I am truly loving having a little girl. She is so sweet and precious and I just love her to death!! She is the total oppostie of Parker and I love that about her too. She takes good naps during the day and usually sleeps almost 6 hours at night. Those things make me a better mom I know for sure. She also is a great eater, she has just recently started on solid (baby food) and she loves it. I know she will be a better eater than Parker when she is his age now. Also she is so fun to dress up and put cute clothes on and polish her toenails. I am just waiting for the day that I can put pig tails in her hair. Girls and boys are sooooooo different, I am so glad Paige came along to show me that not all my children will be little terrorizers!! (I still love him) Anyways I guess this post is a tribute to my little princess!!!

The Host

So I finally finished this book. I had started reading it before Breaking Dawn came out, but wasn't really quite into it so I put it on hold while I read Breaking Dawn. Then I came back to The Host and it has taken me a little while to finish it. I liked it when I finally got really interested in it, but it took me well over 150 pages before I understood what it was about. It just didn't captivate me from the begining like the Twilight series did. But I do give credit to Stephani Meyer for having a vivid and very creative imagination. I never would have in a million years thought of something like that to write about. I guess that is why she is the author and not me. So I would give this book about 3 out of 5 stars. It was good, creative, romantic in parts, a little too sci-fi for me but I enjoyed it.

I wanted to write something yesterday in remembrance of 9/11 but didn't get around to it. Matt and I were watching a show about the 102 minutes that changed our country. It was different video clips that people had shot of the area that morning. It was pretty disturbing to me to see how someone can just not care enough about human life to go and destroy so many families. I just cant belive it, even 7 years later I still have a hard time beliving that it actually happened. How horrific it was near the twin towers and all the people so affected by it. I know that I will always remember where I was when it happened, at home getting ready to go to work at Rupes and watching it on the TV while we were working and I remember feeling so numb about it all and in shock the entire day, maybe even week. I was starting beauty school in about a week and because if this we did not recieve our supplies when we started. They had to ground all flights and trucks with chemicals and stuff like that for a while, so we had no kits to work with for the first couple of weeks/months. My heart goes out to all those that lost family members and loved ones and to those men and women who gave their lives to try and help others. I know I will always remember this day and the impact it has had on my life, and our country's.

Potty Training

So I am sick and tired of changing Parker's dirty diapers. I know several other kids that are his age and they are already potty trained. How do I get him interested in going on the toilet. I have tried and tried and he just thinks it is something funny to do to sit on the potty. The other day I really had enough when he took off his dirty diaper and then proceeded to sit on the floor. Needless to say I had to clean (rather Matt had to clean) the carpet and the chair in the living room. It was disgusting!!! So I bought him a package of pull-ups and tried one on him. Then about a half hour later tried to get him to go to the bathroom and sit on the potty. He took his pants and pull-up off and sat on the toilet with nothing happening. Then he got off and would not put the dry pull-up back on. He called it a diaper and he knows when you take a diaper off you throw it away. So I asked him if he wanted to wear a diaper and he said "Yes" so I guess he isn't ready and I shouldn't waste my money on the dumb pull-ups but how do I get him interested???? I am so far past being done with changing his diaper, it is what I dread doing every day!!! Any advice out there????
