36 Weeks!

I had my regular Dr. appointment yesterday and all went well. I am 36 weeks along and the baby looked great. The Dr. had been concerned about the size of the baby last appointment and had me schedule an ultrasound for yesterday. I wasn't complaining...I get to see the baby again bigger this time. So Matt was able to go with me and we had a good ultrasound! The lady that does them is very knowledgeable and very thorough in the exam showing us where everything is and why that is important to see. So we saw the kidneys and the bladder and knew then knew things were working in that area, that the baby can eat and swallow. We also saw the heart beating and the 4 chambers, good news, no heart condition! We saw the umbilical cord with 3 vessels, that is good because most babies that have Chromosomal Deformities only have 2 vessels. So overall our baby is healthy and strong. It is measuring about 6 lbs, 9 oz. so a good size. My blood pressure was a tad high, but nothing to worry about. I have 2 more appointments with the Dr until the baby is here. Next week and the 7th, then the birth will be on the 15th. Can't wait to meet the newest member of the family!!! Oh by the way, still don't know the sex, we reminded her that we didn't want to know so it is still a surprise!!

I Can't Believe He Said That!

Last week I had visiting teachers over and Parker was watching a cartoon. He kept turning up the volume and I would keep turning it down. He kept saying "but I can't hear it!" One of my visiting teachers said we are almost done and we will get out of your hair. Well a few minutes later, we kept on visiting with each other. Parker turns to them and says, "Are you going to get out of my hair yet?" I was so embarrassed that he had said that!! They both just laughed and the one said, "well I gave him the words!" It was pretty funny. Then as they were getting up to leave Parker said, "are you finally getting out of my hair?" I can't believe this boy!!! I was embarrassed, but at the same time it was pretty funny. Sometimes he says things that I just look at him and think, "where did you get that from?" He keeps me thinking!

On another day he had been watching a church video about Jesus Christ and the resurrection and had been constantly asking me questions about Jesus. So throughout the day he would be asking me stuff like, "who is the mayor?" and "is he the president?" and "is he the leader of our world?" So I would have to answer him and try to explain how things worked. Later in the evening as I was unloading the dishwasher he came to me and asked, "mom will I be a Prophet when I am older?" It kinda took me a second to process what he had asked me. I looked at him and said, "very few people become prophets, you have to be a super good boy all the time to become a prophet." That seemed a good enough answer for him and he turned around and left. WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THAT??? I love it when he watches something and it gets him thinking and asking questions. That in turn keeps me and my brain functioning. So from day to day I wonder what will he come up with next!

My Cravings Lately

So I have once again been craving these lately.....



especially RAW! I craved these with my last pregnancy and would just eat them like an apple. But this pregnancy is a little different and I typically like them sliced thin, with the skins on, and the dirtier the better. Some nights I wake up in the middle if the night and I have to force myself not to go to the storage room to get a potato. Why do I love these so much?? I must truly be and Idahoan! In fact I went to the store yesterday to get some groceries and I was running low on my potato stash and was going to add a bag to my cart. When I caught myself looking for the bag that had the dirtiest potatoes in it! (they were all pretty clean and looked like they had been rinsed well) What am I doing?! I must be lacking iron, but they checked my blood the last appt. I had and nothing came up, so I guess it just goes back to my childhood eating dirt cakes and now I am suddenly craving it again. In fact I told Matt what happened at the store and he just rolled his eyes. Later that night I asked if he would grab me a potato while he was up. He asked if I wanted him to go outside and roll it in dirt first! He thinks it is funny, and gross. I asked if he wanted a bite...he said no! At least it is more healthy than a big bowl of ice cream!

Ahhh Sleep

I have not been able to sleep very well the last few weeks (well months really), but I just attributed it to being so pregnant and uncomfortable. Well Matt hasn't been sleeping well either and we we got thinking maybe our mattress is the problem. We have a king size bed and buying a new mattress is quite an investment. One that we really can't afford to do right now with all the hospital and doctor bills coming in. So I suggested we look at a mattress topper for the time being to get us by until we can get a new mattress. Well I bought one yesterday, it was $150!!! We decided to buy one of those memory foam toppers, hoping that it would make a big difference. We have slept on a memory foam bed and really liked it so getting a topper would be ideal. When I found one at the store I kind of gasped at the price, the realized it was cheap considering mattresses were in the $1500-$2500 range. It was an investment for the topper, but can I just say that this morning when I got up and had slept most of the night, minus the potty break at 2:00, I felt pretty good. So the investment paid off and I am hoping that the next few weeks I can catch as many zzz's as possible so I can be well rested for the arrival of this new little baby!! Oh I have 28 days until delivery! yay!! I can't wait!

Cute Girl

I happen to think that my little girl is absolutely adorable, but I am kind of biased! She got a darling dress for Christmas and looked even cuter than usual in it on Sunday a few weeks ago. She even posed for the camera so I could capture all her cuteness! The dress is a brown corduroy with bright green, pink and teal flowers. She has on tights that match and the cutest little brown flats you have ever seen. To top it off, she even let me put a big flower in her hair, which is quite unusual for her. I just love having a little girl to dress up!!

Move

Matt got a PS3 Move game system for Christmas and we have been having fun as a family playing video games. Parker is pretty good at one in particular called Kung Fu Rider. It is about an Asian man and woman trying to get away from the Mafia and they ride office chairs thru the city to escape. Parker gets really into the game moving the controller all over the place and is usually sticking his tongue out while he is playing. He is pretty entertaining to watch!

I am Daddy

Last night Matt and I were watching tv and Parker came out into the living room with Matt's clothes on and proclaimed, "I am Daddy!" It was pretty funny, he had on Matt's sweat pants, shoes, and coat. Then Paige wanted to be mommy and put on my shoes and then she ran back to the bedroom and put on one of my shirts, shoes, and by mistake Matt's pants. Sometimes the kids make me laugh so hard. Where do they come up with these things!!

Just Like Grandpa

We our bad parents...we let out kids drink soda. And they love it!! I have to monitor the amount they drink or that is all they will drink. Right now at our house we have Diet Pepsi (that was what was on sale) and that just happens to be the soda choice of my dad, Grandpa Yancey. They kids each had a soda the other day and were drinking it and I had to get a picture. "Just like Grandpa" Paige is funny too when she drinks soda, after she takes a drink she puts it down and says, "I Like pop" it is too cute!!

34 Weeks

I went to the doctor on Monday...and I actually saw the doctor. That was quite a miracle in itself. I have had bad luck this time around when it comes to getting in with Dr. Leavitt. I have now only seen him twice this entire pregnancy. Two other times he had to leave for emergency c-sections and wasn't going to be back in the office and the other time he was home sick. So I was excited to keep my appointment with him for a change. Although he has a great P.A and he has taken good care of me the rest of the time, I was just glad to visit with the doctor since he will be the one doing the surgery and delivering the baby. I was lucky that I got to see him too because after waiting in the room for 45 minutes I wondered if they had forgotten about me. I was about to poke my head out the door and see if they had when the doctor came in and said he just got back from delivering a baby. So lucky me that I didn't have to reschedule!!

Anyways, Monday I was 34 weeks and I am feeling alright. I am bigger than I have ever been (weight wise) and am hating that. So my body is really hurting from the extra pounds. I haven't been able to sleep good lately, my lower back has been sore and I have been getting heartburn in the evenings and through the night. So I know I must be getting close to the end. My appointment was good, I was measuring 37 weeks instead of 34 so next appt on the 24th I get to have an ultrasound to check the size of the baby! Yay for an ultrasound!! The doctor also checked my blood count to see if I was anemic so they could put me on iron if I needed it before delivery. The test came back fine other than I had elevated platelets and white blood cells. Which usually indicates an infection of some sorts, which I have no symptoms of signs of. I was just on an antibiotic for the same thing 3 weeks ago, so I don't think anything is wrong. Good news!! The doctor had me schedule my c-section with hospital so I am on the books officially. D-day is Tuesday February 15th at 7:30 A.M! I will be 39 weeks and a day that day and will be more than ready to have the baby here. That is less than 5 weeks away! Can't hardly wait. Now the doctor did tell me if I went into labor on my own before then they would go ahead and do the c-section when I started labor, but if not then I will have to wait until the 15th. So we will see what happens. We are still unsure of a boy name....the ongoing debate between Matt and I. We might just have to wait and see if we even need a boy name!
