Helping Dad

The kids can't get enough time with their dad, especially during the summer months when he is so bust mowing lawns and working at the Hospital. This day, last Saturday, the 22nd, the kids were eager to help wash the lawn mower. Matt was so nice to give me some time to work on a project inside without the kids, and this is what he thought they would love to do. He was right, they did love scrubbing the grass off the mower and spraying it with the hose. But unfortunately the eagerness of helping wore off after about 10 minutes, when they realized it was work and not play!

Matt and I had the wonderful opportunity to be with his Dad and Step-mom at the Idaho Falls temple while they were sealed together. Their special day finally came on the 11th of September, after being married 24 years, they still said "Yes!" We were so excited for them to finally be together forever and that we were able to be there to witness this great event. They are wonderful parents and great examples to  us and our kids and we love them so much. We are so happy for them and wish them many more wonderful years together here on earth and for eternity!!

Paige's 1st Day of Preschool

Somehow the month slips by before I know it and I am playing catch-up on the blog...better late than never I guess!
Paige had her first day of Preschool on the 11th. She could hardly stand waiting for her first day when Parker started school. She was so excited to go back and to see her teachers, Miss Joni & Miss Allyson. She was also excited to see if they had done anything new with the preschool, like paint the walls. (I didn't think they would have). Well Paige went the week before for open house day and the first thing she noticed was the new wall color. She is very obsevant! Paige loves school and making new friends. She is very smart and knows all of her letters and numbers up to 20. She can write he name and some other words with a little help. The teachers have told me more than once that she is the smartest one in her class, of course they tell me not to tell anyone else that! We hope you have a fantastic year in preschool Paige!!

Parker's 1st Day of 1st Grade

Parker started school on Wednesday, the 5th. It seems a little late this year, but here it is already. He was really excited about going and making new friends, he was really excited to know that he already knew a few kids in his class, which will make making new friends easier. He didn't seem to have any hesitation about riding the bus this year and we didn't have any bus drama on the ride home either this year. We are all hoping that Parker has a fantastic year, and is able to learn and grow and enjoy it in the process. Happy first day Parker!!

Flour Boy

Sometimes I just need a few minutes to get dinner going and sometimes this is what I resort to so that will happen. It kept Paxten occupied for about 1/2 an hour. That works for me!! He loved it and he kept saying, "uh-oh!" it was too cute!

Parker's New Clothes

Parker wasn't quite as excited as Paige was about getting new clothes, but I made him try them each on and model for me as well. Parker will be in 1st grade this year and he is so excited about going. He was excited to have a few new things to wear, especially jeans that don't have holes in the knees!

Paige's New Clothes

I took the kids to Walmart the day before Parker started school to get some new clothes. Talk about procrastination! Here are the outfits Paige picked out and her beautiful modeling skills. She cracks me up!! I also love the fact that she is proud that she got ne clothes from Walmart. That won't last forever, gotta love it while I can!!

Fair Time

We love it when the fair comes around. And the kids are getting old enough to remember the years past, so there is no escaping it now! We went to the parade on Saturday morning with those that were here for the reunion. It was just like every other year as far as parades go, but it has become tradition. Then we went over to the fair for lunch and rides. The kids had pizza, Matt and I had Mammoth burgers, and they were so good. Parker was in kind of a crabby mood and all he wanted to do was "have a fun day" meaning he wanted to ride the rides, and get a toy and do only what he wanted to do. I kept telling him if he would change his attitude and decide that he was going to have fun no matter what, then he would. Well after we finally made it over to the rides, he seemed to have more of a fun time. My sunburn from the previous day, really made my day miserable, but I tried not to let it affect the fun the kids had. They loved the rides and could have gone on them all day if we had let them. Thank you Grandma Yancey for the ride tickets. After the rides, we let the kids each pick a grab bag to take home and open. We were only there for a few hours, but that was enough pushing 2 kids in a stroller and another to try and keep track of on the side. Matt and I may go back again by ourselves tomorrow and call it "date night." After we left the fair, about 1/2 hour later, it began to pour rain and it rained hard for about 2 hours. Glad we left when we did!!!

My kids were so excited to go swimming and when Parker saw all the slides at Lava, that is pretty much the only thing he wanted to do. He definitely got his money's worth.I think he went down the slide at least 10 times. He loved it. He also thought he was pretty good at swimming and tried to get me to let hi swim in the deeper water. Swim lessons was a good thing for him to feel more independent and I know that he could at least make it to the side after going off the slide or diving board.

Paige was a little fish and just kept swimming and swimming. She did get cold once in a while and would get her towel on to dry off and warm up for a little while before getting back in the pool. There were 2 kiddie slides in the pool and she loved to go down them, she would go down the slide into the water and she could touch the bottom, then she would get out and go down the slide again. Over and over and over again. I think she really had a fun time as well.

I wasn't sure how Paxten would like the water, but he couldn't get enough if it. I put him on the little kiddie slide to see how he would like it and then I was stuck there for about a 1/2 hour putting him on the kiddi slide. He loved falling off of the edge into the water. I could catch him just before he went under and he would have the biggest grin on his face. He loved evey minute of swimming.

Charyn is more of a dare devil than I am and She decided to go on the really fast slide that drops like 50 feet. She said it was fun and somehow talked me in to going on it. The stairs to get up to it were tiring, and made me relize how out of shape I am. As I was going on the slide, I had second thoughts, but by then it was too late and I could see the ligh and the opening where it dropped, I screamed the entire way down!! It was scary! But it was fun and I might do it again. I love spending time with my family!!

Yancey Reunion

My mom decided it was about time we had a Yancey reunion. We haven't had one for like 2 or 3 years. So she planned one the weekend of the fair, Labor Day weekend, hoping that people would be able to come and to enjoy the fair as well. It turns out it was a bad weekend for most everyone and only a few from Carla's family ended up coming. Carla, Rachel, Caleb & Laura and their kids Evelyn & Adam. Charyn, Zander, & Jackson came for the day but she was on call for work and was unable to spend the rest of the weekend with us. Even though there was a small group of us we managed to have a good time. We went to Lava on Friday and spend the majority of the day swimming. We had planned on going to Ross Park and even called ahead to make sure they would be open. They said "yes thru the Labor day" so we packed a picnic lunch and got all ready to go. When we got to Ross park they were CLOSED!!! The didn't tell us they would be closed the Friday before Labor Day. Luckily Lava was open, so we hopped back in the car and drove a few more miles to Lava. The weather looked like it was going to storm, so were were hesitant to have to pay and then have to get out in a few minutes if it rained. But we were lucky and the storm clouds passed and we had a great time. We swam for about 3 1/2 hours and rode the slides a lot!! I didn't put sunscreen on the kids or me because it was so cloudy when we first got there. Boy did I pay for that later. I was burnt to a crisp!! But it was still worth it, having one last hurrah before school started. We were glad some family came and enjoyed the day with us.
