Worst Day Ever

Parker had his first bad experience at school yesterday, on the first day of course! Well I guess the bad experience happened after school. I went to his bus stop to pick him up, I was all excited to greet him as he walked off the bus, camera in hand ready to shoot a few pictures. When I walked up to the bus doors the driver asked me what kids was mine, I said, "Parker" she looked at all the kids and said, "I don't have a Parker." MY first thought was, "Oh great, he is going to be so scared, I told him nothing would happen!" So I waited while the driver tried to track him down. She had just heard over the radio that another driver had an extra kid on her bus. So the driver, Theresa was her name, asked if the boy happened to be a Parker. Yes it was!! Yay at least he was still on a bus somewhere. I ran home called the transportation department and made arrangements for them to drop him off. They called me back when the bus was close and I went to the corner to meet him. As he got off the bus I tried to have a positive attitude so I wouldn't upset him. I told him that he got an extra long bus ride. Well he was already upset and said that he didn't want to ride the bus that long. He had the saddest look on his face and said he had "The Worst Day Ever" It took me a while to talk him down and to convince him that it wouldn't happen again. (Let's hope it doesn't!) I guess what happened was that he got on the right bus at the kindergarten, then had to switch busses at one of the schools after they picked up the grade school kids. He said that someone told him to get on that bus. So hoepefully today they have things straightened out and my little boy won't get lost again. What an eventful first day. I was just grateful that they kept track of him and didn't let him off the bus somewhere and then he really would have been lost!! I am sending him to school with a note on his shirt with the bus route info, it can't hurt to help them out!

Paxten's Checkup

While Parker was at his first day of school, I took Paxten in for his 6 month check up, I know I am a little late since he is almost 7 months, but I wanted to wait until I could go and only have 2 kids with me instead of three.

Everything went great! Paxten is growing and developing normally. He now weighs, 14 lbs, 5.5 ounces and is 24 1/2 inches long. So he has gained about a lb and a half and grown 1/2 and inch since he checkup in June.

He has one little tooth in the bottom front and the other bottom tooth is not too far behind, I think it will be completley through in another week.

He can sit up all by himself for quite a while. This has been great because he can keep himself occupied for a little while with a few toys. Making my life a little bit easier.

He still isn't rolling over very much, but the doctor wasn't concerned and neither am I. I am sure he will do it on his own time.

He got his vaccinations as well and I always hate the look that kids give you when the needle first goes into their legs. The look of "mom why are you letting them do this to me?," and "mom why are you holding me down so they can do this to me?" It breaks my heart, but I do it for them, to protect them and I am sure they will thank me down the road, when they are older.

First Day of Kindergarten

 

Parker had his first day of school today. Because if the boundries, he is attending the afternoon session of school. I was a little disappointed about that, because I wanted him to start getting into the habit of going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. But I have recently decided that it will be okay. I will get to sleep a little longer as well this year, and with still having to wake up during the night with Paxten, that will be a good thing. Parker woke up this morning and was so excited to be going to school. He probably asked me 100 times when the bus was coming to pick him up. He could hardly wait. When the bus finally arrived he just hopped right on and waved goodbye. I hoped he would do okay and that everything would go smoothly for my little boy. I will have you know that I didn't cry!! I am excited for him to be growing up and for the next phase in his life. I am also excited to have a few hours Parker free.

Parker Meets his Teacher

 

Parker is starting kindergarten this year and he got Mrs. St. John for his teacher. We are really excited about having her because we know she is super nice and she knows Parker's Grandpa & Grandma Yancey and his Aunt Christine. Mrs. St. John was excited that Parker was going to be in her class. We had a meet the teacher day yesterday and Parker and I got to do some fun activities in his new classroom together. He painted his hand blue and put his handprint on the wall with all his fellow classmates, we read a Clifford book together, he got to stamp his name in playdough, toured the school and got to visit with his new teacher. Parker is really excited to go to school and to ride the school bus.

Chuck E Cheeses

 

The kids have been dying to go to Chuck E Cheeses, and everytime the commercial is on they explaim how badly they want to go there. Since we were in Utah and didn't know when we would get the chance again we decided to take them. I was a little heisitant because we had been to Boondocks and they are quite similar, but Parker really wanted to go and experience Chuck E Cheeses. Matt said that he always wanted to go when he was little and never got the chance, so he wanted Parker to have that opportunity. We arrived just as they were opening, which was a good thing, less people to have to manuver around. The kids loved playing on the slide and play area that didn't even cost anything!! Paige was having fun just putting tokens in all the games she could, even if they were ones she didn't know how to play. We soon realized we needed to monitor her tokens and give them to her one at a time. Parker was in heaven playing video games with his dad! The kids collected 137 tickets and were each able to get a few toys in exchange for the tickets. Nothing special because all the good prizes were like 1000 tickets. Who is going to get that many tickets anyways??? That is a rip off. But the kids had fun and we managed to go and not have to get pizza there and saved our money so we could eat at Chipotle afterward....so much better!!! Aftet lunch we headed home. We had a great vacation spending time with just our little family. It was just what we needed before school started!

Wedding

 

My cousin Sarah married Blake Erickson on Saturday the 27th of August in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple. It was a really beautiful ceremony! The sealer did an amazing job and we all were brought to tears at the thought of how happy my Uncle Steve would be seeing his baby girl married in the temple. It was a beautiful day outisde, quite hot, and they had a lot of family and friend there to support them. After the wedding they had a little luncheon at the church and we had sandwiches and salads. The reception was at Carla's house in her backyard and was decorated to beautifully. We had a fun time catching up with family and spending time with one another, while celbrating this great occasion with Sarah and Blake!

Hotel Swimming

 

The kids were so excited about swimming that they could hardly wait to get their swim suits on (or swimmin soups, as Paige calls them). We happened to be the only ones in the pool for a little while and the kids swam for about a hour. Paxten did suprisingly well, I thought that he wouldn't like it because the water was pretty cool, but he seemed to to enjoy the time he was in the water. We stayed 2 nights at the hotel and had to swim both nights. Parker especailly was eager to swin again on Saturday. He didn't want to go to the temple or the reception, all he could think about was swimming. I better get him in some lessons next year!

Mini Golf

 

Our family went to Utah this last weekend for my cousin Sarah's wedding, and Matt and I decided to make a weekend of it and have some fun with the kids before school starts. We left on Friday morning and after we arrived in Utah our first stop was Boondocks for some miniature golf. We had a great time together, but we would have had more fun if it hadn't been 97 degrees outside! We were all dying of heat and poor little Paige was sweating so bad her hair was all wet. She kept telling me how hot she was, and there wasn't much I could do about it. We played the 18 holes and then hurried inside to the air conditioning to play some games in the arcade. After we left Boondocks we made our way to In and Out Burger. It was really good, and so inexpensive! The kids even ate what we ordered for them! Yay! The kids had so much fun and were equally excited about arriving to our hotel, especially since they knew they would get to swim....

Gonna Miss This

 

I am sure gonna miss this perfect, gummy smile. My baby is getting his first tooth. The front bottom left tooth is coming in and before I know it his little smile will be filled with teeth. I am a little sad about it because it means my baby is growing up and getting bigger. I want him to stay little for a while longer. But at the same time, I am excited because this is a milestone for him and baby teeth are cute. Soon he will be eating solid foods and using those little chompers to eat a french fry or hot dog. I am not sure I am ready for that, but it will be here soon. Thank goodness for pictures so I always remember how when he smiles his whole face lights up. I can't help but smile when he smiles at me. I love my Pax man!!

Parker Visits the Dentist

 

Parker has been to the dentist with Matt a few times preparing him for when he would have to go. I finally made him an appointment when I noticed that he had a cavity on one of his top molars. Now if I could tell there was a cavity, you can imagine how big it already was. He was really excited to be going to the dentist and did very well. The hygenist Heather is super nice and showed him how to brush really good and colored his teeth pink to show him the spots he had missed. He even got to watch a movie about teeth and how to take care of them. Well it turns out I should have taken him in sooner, he had 6 cavities. 2 on the top right, 2 on the top left, and 2 on the bottom left. So we will be making a few more trips in to the dentist to get them fixed. I think it is important to have good oral care so that the rest of your body can remain healthy as well. I need to do a better job of monitoring his brushing so that we won't have so many cavities next time. I hope he does as well as he did at his cleaning at the visit to get them fixed.

Fishing/Island Park

We went to Island Park last weekend with some of Matt's family, the Keller side, and had a great time. Parker was invited to go with grandpa & grandma C. a day early and he was thrilled about that. He went with them on Thursday and they said he was a perfect angel! What? who's kid are they talking about?? I guess he know when to be good! Matt and I went up on Friday night and took Paige and Paxten with us. Since we arrived a day later we missed the big fishing adventure Parker and Grandpa C. went on. Parker caught a big cut-throat trout. (of course with help from grandpa, he hooked it and then let Parker reel it in) Parker was so excited and couldn't wait to show it to us when we arrived. It was about 12-14 inches long and weighed about 3 lbs. I am surprised that he was able to hold on to the pole to reel it in. He had so much fun with grandpa on the boat and couldn't wait to go out into the water again. I will just mention how nervous it made me to have him out on Henry's Lake. I was a wreck just thinking about it. I am sure going to get him into swimming lessons next summer. We had a fun weekend full of good food, laughter, cards, and mosquitoes, they were the only bad thing! The kids were sad when we had to come home. Back to life, back to reality. We sure love having such a great family and that they are all so close and love to hang out with each other!

Picture time

The kids can't resist when I pull out the camera, they always have to have a picture taken of them. Here is a cute picture of my three cuties right before church. Don't they all look so adorable and handsome. I love these kids!!

6 Months

Look at this! I can't believe my baby is sitting up all by himself. He is sure growing up, although he is still small. I can't believe it has been 6 months, where has the time gone? Paxten just seems to fit right into our family and I am slowly forgetting what life was like without him. I can't even imagine him not being in our family, he is like another puzzle piece that fits perfectly into our "picture"

He can now sit up by himself for shot periods of time. He still occasionally tips over.

He is a little more content to play with a toy on his own, so I am not having to hold him quite as much.

He loves to be in the same room as me, and cries when he sees me leave.

He loves to play peek-a-boo and usually laughs when the kids play it with him. His baby laugh is so contagious, we often entertain ourselves by trying to make him laugh!

He loves baby food and can sometimes eat an entire jar at a sitting. His favorites are green beans, mixed vegetables, squash, and peach cobbler.

He grabs at everything on my plate...no more holding him while I am eating. The other day he spilled half a jar of baby food all over me when he grabbed it and I couldn't stop him quick enough.

He loves popsicle or anything cold. He can eat an entire otter pop, or two or three, if I will let him. He cries when it is all gone.

He can drink out of a cup! What?? I know this is crazy, he won't take a bottle or a pacifier, but he can drink out of a cup.

He moves around on the floor a lot, but I haven't caught him rolling over yet...soon, very soon.

He has been drooling a lot lately and I keep looking for the first tooth to pop through. I am sure it won't be long.

Mmmmm Tasty

This is what Paxten has been caught doing a lot lately. I think it is so funny. Whatever he can put into his mouth he does. You have to admit, he is pretty darn cute!
