Halloween 2011

 

This year for Halloween I have Woody, a Princess, and a Dinosaur! Aren't they adorable!!

Paige was going to be a lady bug, in fact she was a lady bug for her preschool Halloween party, but last minute she changed her mind and wanted to be a princess. Sounds a little familiar! So I threw together he costume from her dress up clothes. She love it! It just goes to show that kids don't really care, they just want to dress up. I borrowed Parker's costume from a friend because we decided that the Darth Vader costume we had wouldn't work for the Church party or for the school Halloween parade, so we changed what he was also. He loved the costume and was happy to be Woody. Paxten could have cared less if he was dressed up or not, actually he probably would have preferred not to be dressed up. But I couldn't resist. This is the costume Parker wore when he was 1 and looked so stinkin cute. I think Paxten looks just as adorable. Tonight we are taking the kids around town to a few family members and friends. They don't really need the candy, and neither do I, so I doubt we will be out long. But I do have to show off my cute little kids!

I'm An Auntie....Again

 

Charyn called me last Thursday after her docotor's appointment to tell me how it went. Dr. Leavitt told her he thought she would have the baby over the weekend. Which surprised me because she is only 37 weeks and this is her first baby. I was excited for her but bummed because that would mean she wouldn't make it to our scrap book retreat the next weekend. Later in the day, about 5:00 she called and said that she was in the hospital and was having regular contractions. She was going to have the baby that day!! I was so excited for my little sister to become a mom, I could hardly stand it. I tried really hard not to bug her too much, but I wanted to know how she was doing and how things were progressing. At 10:00 that night my mom called to update me and said that she was at an 8 and would probably have the baby before midnight. I said to call and let me know no matter what time it was. I couldn't sleep very good and was just so excited and anticipating his arrival. Finally I got a text from Mike at 1:48 with a cute little picture of my new nephew. Unfortunately that was all the text included was a picture. No information!! I could tell it was Mike that had sent it! hahaha. I had to wait until the morning to find out all the details. Cute little Zander Ricky Brooks was born at 12:54 A.M. on the 28th of October. He weighed 6lbs, 4 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long. He has a ton of dark hair and is so adorable. I was able to go and visit later that day and got to hold him. He is so tiny!!. It wasn't that long ago that Paxten was that little, but ut sure seems like forever. They grow out of that newborn phase so quickly! I am so excited for Charyn and Mike and for the adventure that awaits them. We are so happy to have Zander in our family and can't wait to spoil him!! (I have already had a good start to that!! I can't resist!)

Pumpkin Carving

 

We can't let Halloween go by without carving some pumpkins. Parker kept bugging me every time we went to that store about getting a pumpkin to carve. Both Parker and Paige were really excited about it this year. We decided to carve them on a Saturday after Matt and Parker went golfing. Paige and I (and Paxten) went and got the pumpkins, picking out a special sized one for each member of the family. When the time came to carve, the kids had picked out designs that they wanted their pumpkin carved into and neither of them could physically carve their own pumpkin. Parker at least helped by gutting his pumpkin as well as mine. Paige just mostly watched while I carved hers and my own. Matt ended up doing Parker's and his. So after almost 2 hours of carving my hand was sore and I was tired of carving pumpkins. Poor Paxten didn't even end up getting a little face out of his pumpkin. Maybe next year. He didn't care, he was asleep most of the time! So here are our creations this year. Paige wanted the monster, Parker wanted the skeleton face, I did the haunted house, and Matt carved out Big Dad. It was going to say Big Daddy, but his letters got too big! It is a fun tradition to spend the evening together and to get into the spirit of Halloween.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Look what Matt got me for my birthday! Yes I am excited and no he didn't think of it on his own. I coached him on what to get me and I am glad that he listened. This will come in very handy when I am doing haircuts!! Thanks Matt!

Pink Eye

We had our first experience with Pink Eye last week. Parker started showing signs of this yucky infection on the 10th and I just thought maybe it was allergies or an eye cold. It progressively got worse and then started oozing. I took him to the doctor and she did confirm that it was Pink Eye. Parker stayed home from school on Thursday and was very bummed that he would be missing class. I was bummed that I wouldn't get time to myself while he was at school. We kept the hand sanitizer wherever we went and tried really hard to not spread it to others. But on Friday I noticed Paxten's eyes were getting a little red and starting to have green eye boogers, so I called the Dr. back and got a prescription for him as well. (why don't they just send home a family prescription for those types of things, do they really want us bringing in all our sick kids one at a time to get others sick!) So after 7 days on antibiotics we are Pink Eye Free....now I just need to get rid of this nasty cold I got in the meantime. URGH!!!

The Writing on The Walls...Literally

I came home one night last week after being at my mom's for a few minutes and this is what I found all over the house. Someone had used a black crayon and put "t's" all over the house. There wasn't one wall untouched! As I looked around the house I just kept seeing more and more crayon on the walls and I found myself getting madder and madder. Who did this? and did it while Matt was supervising??? There is only one guess....Miss Paige! She has been a little naughty lately and I knew this was something she would do. She has been writing on all sorts of stuff lately, except paper. So she did get in trouble and the next day she spent about 30 minutes cleaning my walls, chairs, and tables...I hope she learned her lesson!

 

Pax's Pictures

After my not so good experience at JCPenney last time I took the kids to get pictures I was in no way wanting to back there so I asked my friend Valeigha to take some pictures of Paxten for his 6 month mark. Well by the tine I got around to it he was 7 months old, but it still works! They turned out so great, I love them. I think she did better than the so-called professional at JCPenney's! Thanks so much Valeigha, I owe you one!!

8 Months

Paxten turned 8 months old yesterday! He is now rolling all over the place and just in the last few days has learned to do sort of an army crawl on the floor to get something he wants. Before I know it he will be running all over the place and won't be my little baby anymore. He also love to stand next to furniture and can stand in one place for about 5 minutes before falling over. He is still super attached to me, but has been better about not having to be held 24 hours a day. Matt said he would watch all the kids when I go scrapbooking in a few weeks if I could get him weaned, I don't know if that is wishful thinking, it sure would be nice, but I don't think it is very realistic. We shall see!

Just for Fun

This is what we do around here for fun and entertainement.

Paige Says....

Paige is quite the silly little girl. She is pretty darn smart for her age and sometimes she randomly says stuff that just makes me laugh. Lately whenever she likes something she says... I do like______ (whatever she happens to like right then) for instance these are a few of the things she is liking right now and tells me all the time.

When Parker leaves for school Paige has to go outside too to wait for the school bus, and after the bus leaves she walks into the house and says, "I do like school buses!" She does this every day, I can almost count on her saying it. It is so funny!

She also says, "I do like pop", "I do like makeup", " I do like Cheetos" you get the point. It is pretty funny. Last night we were talking about the kids growing up and that Parker would be the first to leave the house if he went on a mission and that maybe Paige would be the first to get married if she didn't go on a mission and then she proclaimed, "I do like missions". It was hilarious!

Yesterday she came to me and said for Christmas she wanted new shoes, an IPAD, and new makeup. What?? She's 3 years old and she thinks she needs and IPAD! It was funny because she said it so quickly like I wouldn't catch it. I guess she is going to be disappointed, because she is NOT getting and IPAD for Christmas!

Missing Front Tooth

Parker's front tooth has been loose for quite a while and we have told him to be wiggling it all the time to get it to fall out. Last Monday I felt it just to see how loose it was and it felt like it was just hanging on. Matt even tried to pull it out like he did with one of his bottom teeth, but he was unable to get it. Well later that afternoon Parker and Paige were playing with each other messing around and Parker came running to me and said that Paige had kicked him in the face and it knocked out his tooth. He was so excited about it, never mind that she had accidentally kicked him. It bled for quite a while and left a big hole in Parker's mouth. I am not used to seeing him like that and of course he has school pictures tomorrow. Now he will be asking for his front tooth for Christmas! The tooth fairy came that night and left him a dollar under his pillow. He was very excited about that!
