Mr. Personality

Little Paxten is developing a personality. He still loves to be held by mom and I can get a good belly laugh out of him occasionally. He loves to smile at others and is generally a pretty happy kid. He still struggles to take a good nap, but manages with just the cat naps. He is eating good and recently tried green beans and loves them. He loves to be outside and usually calms down as soon as you walk out the door, although he isn't too fond of the kiddie pool that we have in the back yard, I think it's too cold! He still isn't rolling over, but I am in no hurry for this little guy to become mobile, although I am sure he can't wait to be able to keep up with his big brother and sister!

Father's Day

 

For Father's Day the kids and I created a candy poster for Matt that included snickers, extra gum, 100 grand, sweetarts, payday, mounds, and some other candy bars. We also gave him these cute sodas. I made the ones with the ties and the kids got the other ones in Primary. I thought it was funny that we had come up with the same idea to give the dad pop. I found the idea online at How Does She, I love that site!

We also visited the grandpas and gave them similar posters and pop as well. It was a hit and I felt like the kids were able to contribute this year so it felt like it was from them a little more than me.

Circus Time

 

The circus came to town on the 15th and I convinced my mom to go with us. I wasn't about to take 3 kids all by myself since Matt would be working that day. The kids were so excited to go and to see the elephants. They were each allowed to pick one ride before the show started. Parker picked riding on a camel and Paige picked riding on an elephant. The camel was 2 tickets and the elephant was 3 tickets. Each of the tickets was 2 dollars, so between the two rides it was $10, and each ride only lasted maybe 1 minute. What a rip off!! Paige was scared to death riding on that big elephant, I wasn't about to pay another $6 to ride with her, so she was up there with a bunch of strangers and looked like she didn't enjoy the ride on bit. But I guess it is a memory for her and me as well. After the rides we went into the tent to try and get a good seat before the show started. As soon as we walked through the doors they were trying to sell us light up toys and junk like that, $15 for a light up sword, I don't think so. I had to play the mean mom by telling the kids "no" to several of their requests. They each got to pick one treat to eat, Parker picker $4 cotton candy and Paige picked a $3 snow cone. I was going to go broke, luckily since my mom came she ended up paying for a lot of the stuff. The show was alright, it didn't flow very smoothly, it seemed like there was a lot of waiting for the next act and a lot of trying to sell more things from coloring books to peanuts, popcorn, soda, and candy apples. The kids were ready to leave before the intermission. We managed to convince them to stay and we saw the elephants perform and the trapeze people. It was fun to take the kids and for a night out. But it was sure expensive. My mom and I joked that the object of the circus was to get our money!!

4 month check-up

I was a little slow in getting Paxten into the Doctor for his 4 month check-up. But we managed to squeeze it in yesterday. Our little boy is doing good, growing but is still small. He is in the 6th percentile in height and weight. He now weighs 12 lbs. 13 ounces and is 24 inches long. So he has grown 2 inches and gained almost 2 1/2 lbs since his 2 month appt. He may be slowly growing, but at least he is gaining and getting taller. Parker and Paige were both on the small end of the growth charts as well, so I am not concerned about Paxten at all. The doctor said everything else looked good, it was a short appt. not much to discuss, but I felt like he was in a big hurry and we were just another patient. Not that I wanted to sit and visit with him about nothing, but he didn't even talk to me about introducing cereal of solid foods. I already have done that, but if I didn't have other kids and this was my first I wouldn't have known when to start them. It just wasn't a very informative appt. I guess I should be the one asking questions. Oh well, at least I didn't have to wait in the waiting room for 45 minutes!!

Parkerisms

Sometimes Parker can truly crack me up. I don't know where he gets it from! The other night we were at the church getting things ready for a Relief Society meeting. I had to bring the kids along because Matt wasn't home yet. As we were getting things ready, tables put up and food together Parker went into the kitchen, which happened to have about 5 other ladies in it. He looked at my mom and said "uh awkward" and turned around and left. What??? Where did he learn that? And does he even know what that means? Well he must because he used it in the right situation! Silly kid!

Also about a week ago he told me that he likes to play next door because one of their little girls is cute. I was visiting with her mom on Sunday and told her what Parker had said. She then proceeded to tell me all the funny things Parker says when he is over at their house. For instance, he told their daughter MaryAnn that I wasn't his real mom, that I was his step mom. As she was believing him he just kept on embellishing the story. Then he told her that he has to live in the run down shed by our house and that the only thing he has to eat is cereal. She totally believed him and was looking at her mom like she was so sad and felt so bad for him. Luckily the neighbor knows us and knows that is not true. She looked at MaryAnn and told her that Parker was making it up and just teasing her. Why would he say stuff like that? What a stinker!!!

Another day he was at the neighbors house and they have a bunch of toys outside in their garage. Parker was in their looking for a toy and all he could find was dolls and girl toys. He looked at their mom and said, "don't you have any weapons?" She thought that was hysterical. Sometimes he says the funniest things!

4 Months

 

I can't believe another month has come and gone and that my baby is 4 months old. Time seems to fly quicker with each child. I can't even remeber what is was like without Paxten, it is so wonderful to have his sweet little spirit in our home. The other kids love him to pieces and are constantly trying to make him smile. He is getting his own personality and loves to be the center of attention. He loves it when he is talked to and can smile right on cue. He has the cutest gummy smile and you can't help but smile back at him. He melts my heart!! We (when I say we I mean me!) are still having trouble getting him to sleep at night or to take very long naps. I am not sure why he doesn't sleep good, I seem to have tried everything. He loves to be outside enjoying the sunshine as long as it isn't in his eyes. He loves the warmer weather and being able to have his legs be free. So come on warm weather get here and stay here please for Paxten!!!

Naughty Kids

Sunday Matt set the sprinkler for a while and we had been outside enjoying the sunshine. Matt and I came inside for a few minutes and before we knew it this is what was going on outside.....

 

I had to take a picture, and then I got mad at them for first playing in the water, especially on Sunday and then for taking off their clothes!! They of course thought it was hilarious!!

Paige's New Do

 

Yesterday I found a wad of hair on the ground. Immediately I was worried, I ran into Paige's room and as soon as I saw her I saw an ugly mullet. She had cut her own hair, and it was not a good cut. She had cut her entire right side about to ear length. I was mortifies. After I looked at it and surveyed the damage, I stil didn't know what I was going to do with it. She has been telling me that she wants to grow it out like Repunzel, well so much for that idea!! She thought it was so funny that she cut her own hair. I was trying to tell her how bad it was and how naughty she was, but I was giggling myself, it was that or start crying. My mom came over after she got home from work and I was able to cut her hair into a relatively cute style. Paige said she loves her haircut, great that didn't teach her a thing!! It did turn out quite cute, but no more pigtails for a while. At least it won't be in her face all summer long. I guess it had to happen some time, I am just glad I could fix it myself and I didn't have to take her out in public with her mullet!!

School Lunch

The summer school lunch started today and I decided on a whim to take the kids because they were serving chicken nuggets. Would you know it, both the kids ate almost all of it!! The is a record at our house. They both were so excited about eating school lunch that they gobbled it right up. What a way to start the summer. I love not having to fix them lunch, and it gets us up and going and out of the house for an hour or so. We are also enjoying the summer movies. They started last week and the kids have a fun time going to the theater and watching a movie and having popcorn. We will be busy this summer having lots and lots of fun!! Yay!

My Pretty Princess

I took the kids to get pictures at the end of May and before I had gotten them all ready Paige decided to help me out by doing her own makeup. This was the result:





And yes, I did wash it off before we went to get the pictures taken. What am I going to do with this girl?

Parker's Preschool Graduation

Parker had his preschool graduation on the 19th of May and the rest of the month got away from me. So I finally have a moment to sit down and write about it. Parker has been going to preschool for 2 years and I think it was one of the best decisions I made to put him in. He has grown up so much and I think he is really ready for kindergarten next year. It took him a while but he can finally write his name and can say most of the letters in the alphabet. He can count to 12 really well and a few more numbers to 20 (he gets a little mixed up here and there). For the graduation program the teachers, Miss Joni and Miss Allyson, asked each of the kids if they had one wish what would it be. Each of the kids responses became their line in the program. When they sent home Parker's part on a piece of paper for him to practice I had to laugh. It said that Parker's wish was, "To be strong and handsome" What a funny kid that out of all the wishes that is what he said. Other kids wished to go camping, or get a pony, or be a princess and Parker said that. It was pretty funny, in fact it got a good laugh out of the audience at the graduation. I already think Parker is strong and handsome and he will only keep becoming more strong and handsome. It was a fun night to see him with his friends and to sing the songs he has been working on. We are excited for him to be in kindergarten and for Paige to start preschool in the fall.
